In this learning path you will discover how you can develop the method of Fourier analysis (according to J. B. J. Fourier 1768 – 1830) in an experimental manner with your pupils with the help of GeoGebra, the multi-award winning dynamic teaching software.

Fourier analysis makes it possible to break down complex oscillations such as also occur in music into their individual components. In this case, each of these partial oscillations has the shape of a sinusoidal oscillation and can be represented as a graph of a sinus function of the form y(x) = a sin(f x + φ0) where the parameters are amplitude a, frequency f and zero phase angle φ0.

The topic of the Fourier analysis is particularly suitable for inter-disciplinary teaching in the subjects maths, musical education and physics. It is desirable to have co-operation between the appropriate subject teachers in order to make lessons as stimulating and varied as possible for the pupils.
